A little more than half the writing time has now gone by, and the deadline is starting to approach. How's it going, everyone? I hope all is well, but please don't hesitate to let me know if you have any questions or concerns. You've got until 23.59 GMT on the 20th of April to add your fic(s) to the collection — so don't panic, there's still plenty of time.

If your writing is coming along nicely (or if you'd like to procrastinate), you can do some canon promoting here, or maybe just check out what others have posted.

Yeah, I know what you mean! Somehow it often feels like the hardest part is deciding which canon to write for.

I have finished my fic for Deep Sea Aquarium Magmell--I may end up going back and editing closer to the deadline, but overall I feel really good about it! I also wrote a drabble for Puparia, a short film available for free on YouTube that captivated me.

Since I still have some time before the deadline, I'm brainstorming ideas for a third fic, but haven't come up with anything concrete yet. There are a lot of sff novels I remember fondly from my childhood that don't have any fics, as well as a few more recent series that are currently unrepresented, so we'll see!

I have a couple thousand words with my protagonists complaining about the state of the theatre and making little jabs at each other’s works, but I need to streamline exactly how my dubious French journalist is going to die and how much these reluctant detectives are doing to keep bickering and vaguely suspect one another until they blunder into the solution.

Sounds like you're doing really well, even if there are a couple of question marks. Keep at it, and good luck with finding a suitable death for your journalist!

I've got some words done, finally, so I'm making progress, also having to do a re-read of the original novels since it's a couple of years since reading, to make sure I have my facts straight for two different timelines, as the characters imagine how a third could have been. (It'll make sense in the fic!)

I've definitely got a fandom (Playing God, a movie that came out in 2021), but no words yet!

Maybe it's just me, but I think picking a fandom is the toughest part -- so in my eyes you've made good progress already, even if there aren't any actual words yet! Good luck with the writing!
