Hi, and welcome to the eighth round of Be The First!

This is a low-pressure challenge to write a fic, of any length, for a fandom that previously had none. That's it! If you want to take part, just reply to this post :)

Quick rundown: You have two months to write. The deadline is at 23.59 GMT on the 20th of April, and the archive will go live at 00.01 GMT on the 22nd of April. You can submit up to four stories, as long as they are for different fandoms.

If you'd like more information beyond those basic points, then you can find the FAQ right here. The AO3 collection for this year is here, and I'll be putting up a fandom promo post in roughly a week.

Awww yeah! I was just pulling my notes together for this last night! :) :) :) This year, I'm hoping to write a fic for James Alan Gardner's League of Peoples series from the late '90s, plus one or two others if time and energy permits.

Ooh, I was just thinking this was coming up soon and was trying to figure out what to write for! Still haven't quite decided but I'm leaning towards the graphic novel My Aunt Is a Monster.

As always, I'm very excited that this is happening again!

Oh, absolutely!
There are several options I'm considering, but because I swing towards the historical, a couple of them are 15th and 17th century RPF. The century business means they're huge "fandoms" by default, of course, despite one of my pairings having no fic and the other having just one in Russian. Is creating currently non-existent subcategories okay and posting under those, like Ottoman Empire RPF and Scottish History RPF, for example?

Yes, doing that is fine! AO3 will almost certainly make your fandom tags synonyms of the big RPF categories (that's what's happened to all the RPF written for this challenge so far), but you don't need to worry about that. As long as you post them under a very specific and fic-less subcategory it's all good.
