Hi there, and welcome to the fourth round of Be The First! Nothing has changed since the previous times; this is still a low-pressure challenge to write a fic, of any length, for a fandom that previously had none. That's it! If you want to take part, just reply to this post :)

Quick rundown: You have two months to write. The deadline is at 23.59 GMT on the 20th of April, and the archive will go live at 00.01 GMT on the 22nd of April. You can submit up to two stories, as long as they are for different fandoms.

If you'd like more information beyond those basic points, then you can find the FAQ right here. The AO3 collection for this year is here, and I'll be putting up a fandom promo post in a few days.

I hope you're all as excited as I am — I really can't wait to see what you write this year! And let's see if we can beat last year's total of twenty-two fics, shall we? Good luck, everyone!

Happy to see this is running again! Thinking of writing for Voltron: From the Ashes comic. I've searched and there doesn't seem to be any fic for it. :D

Yay, so happy this is running again! :D This year I'm hoping to write for Bad Day on the Midway, a surrealist mid-90s point and click game about the lives of performers and guests at a twisted carnival.

Yay! I'm marcelo on AO3. I'll be writing Cemetery Beach (while knowing Ellis will make the story nonsensical when he finishes the series).

I'm excited to see this running again--I look forward to it every year! This time I'm planning to write a crossover between two Taiga (Japanese historical dramas): Toshiie to Matsu and Gou: Himetachi no Sengoku. Neither has any fanfic in English that I can find, so I'm good on both fronts!

Dug out my LJ login so I could leave a non-anonymous comment (but would be lovely if this ever moved to DW).

I definitely am going to try to find some fandom to write for - if I hadn't gotten a fantastic treat for the webseries Cybergeddon this past Yuletide, I'd write for that (but my gift was the first fic in the fandom, so now there's already one). Can't think of one off the top of my head, but I'll poke through my stuff - probably some film or a little-known show.

I'm in! I'm thinking I'll write something for Rachel Grant's Evidence book series or Always a Witch/Siempre Bruja (Netflix). There is a fandom category for the tv show on ao3, but its only included in a bunny farm prompt list, there is no actual fic for it.

To be the bratty kid in the back of the car during a long trip:

"Are we there yet?"

More seriously, hanging out like crazy to read the fics and according to my clock, they were due this time yesterday. Any issues?

I did! Fascinating piece - I couldn't imagine before how you would write a story for a song.

And I have to confess that I had to google the lyrics first ;) When Gold came out I was 11 and had just started learning English. So while the melody is in my head (and even the lyrics of the chorus) I never really listend to what the words say.

And you spotted the Shakespeare reference! I double-checked the meaning of "Salad Days" and it worked so well in there :-) Thank you for your lovely comments.
