Hello, and welcome to the fifth round of Be The First! Based on your requests, two things are new this year: One should be obvious if you're currently reading this, namely that there's now a DW community in addition to the LJ one! Several of you have asked for this, and here it finally is. Please don't hesitate to let me know if I messed up some setting or whatever, as I'm new to having an actual account here myself. Secondly, another request I've gotten more than once is to raise the limit of stories that can be posted by each person. So, instead of the previous two, everyone can now post up to four fics. This is just a trial, though! After the round is over I'm planning on running a poll, asking if you guys want to keep this new amount or go back to old one — or maybe settle for something in between with three?

But aside from that, nothing has changed since the previous rounds. This is still a low-pressure challenge to write a fic, of any length, for a fandom that previously had none. That's it! If you want to take part, just reply to this post :)

Quick rundown: You have two months to write. The deadline is at 23.59 GMT on the 20th of April, and the archive will go live at 00.01 GMT on the 22nd of April. You can submit up to two four stories, as long as they are for different fandoms.

I'm excited to take part! I'll be aiming to write something for the Dr. Christian radio show (or rather, primarily for the 1944 novelization by Ruth Adams Knight and Jean Hersholt).

This year I'm hoping to write something for Mermaid Boys, a shoujo comedy manga that's a genderbent take on The Little Mermaid. It's filled to the brim with pretty fish men.

I've been looking forward to this! I'm not entirely sure what I'm going to be writing for yet, but I'm thinking maybe something for the cnovel Fantasy Farm or the game Tangledeep. Or maybe something else entirely! We'll see.

This sounds like a good challenge for me! The fandoms I have in mind are Sol Trigger and The Expression Amrilato (Kotonoha Amrilato). Not sure I'll do both but I'm gonna try to finally get these ideas written into fic :)

This will be my first time taking part, but I'm not sure I can resist! I'm leaning towards writing something for the Pax Arcana book series by Elliott James. I can't find anything on AO3 or ff.net, so I'm thinking it'll be good!

All I have to do now is go reread the whole series again!

I'll probably only have time for two, but my dream fandom list is the Neil Flambe series, The Adventures of Hourai High: Transfer Student Dramabomb, Graffiti Bridge, and Dilbert.

I had a lot of fun doing this last year, so I definitely want to take part again! This year I'm hoping to write something for The Dazzle of Day by Molly Gloss, or The Shadow and the Star by Laura Kinsale. (Or maybe both, if I'm ambitious.)
