Little more than half of the writing time has now gone by, so it's high time for a check-in post! (This was meant to be posted earlier, but due to some RL stuff my computer time has been very limited this month. That's also the reason for the delay in answering some of the recent questions. Sorry about that!)

So, how is it going? Have you started writing yet? Having fun, or is it rough going? Perhaps you're still having trouble deciding which fandom(s) to write for? Feel free to ask for advice, simply vent, or say anything else you want in here.

A few additional notes, while we're at it: The AO3 collection can be found here. It's my first time creating one, but hopefully everything is in order. I made it a subcollection, in case anyone's up for doing this challenge again next year ;3

Also, would you guys like a beta post? I figure people might have a hard time finding beta readers due to the obvious lack of an actual fandom, so it might be useful. You could both offer up your services, and/or specifically ask for help. Let me know!

A very kind participant has created Tumblr and Dreamwidth feeds, since a lot of people aren't keeping up with LJ these days. Many thanks to them for taking the time to do this!

Finally, a quick reminder of the deadline... The AO3 collection will close at 23.59 GMT on the 20th of April. The fics will be revealed at 00.01 GMT on the 22th of April. That extra day in between will serve as a buffer, partly in case anyone had a last-minute issue that prevented them from posting on time.

I haven't started yet--had a bit of a writing panic, but I feel like I can write things again. I may switch to the canon I have an easier time acquiring for my fic than the original fandom I chose, though, because April's going to be a bit packed for me.

It sucks when you get blocked like that, gah. I'm happy you're starting to feel like you're getting over it! Switching canons might be a good idea, and you can always write for both if you do end up getting your hands on your original choice ;)

I've been writing! Things got off to a slow start, but the writing is going more smoothly now, and I hope to be done with my first draft soon. I'm having a lot of fun playing with the characters!

That's great! I think it can be hard sometimes when you write the fandom/characters for the first time, so I'm glad to hear you're having fun with it. Keep up the good work!

I'm not thrilled having to do this, but I have to drop out. RL has been... difficult and my writing time (and quality) has hit rock bottom. So it's time to know when to quit. I signed up as neverminetohold (sorry for not logging in).

Aw, I'm really sorry to hear that. I hope things get better for you real soon! Should you change your mind you don't have to worry about letting me know or signing up again -- just go right ahead and post your fic to the collection. And if not, just know that you got a reader right here for whenever you do complete your fic, as I'm quite fond of the manga you were planning to write for :)

Still 0 words, but I'm claiming forward motion. :P I'm working on a huge exchange assignment that's eating my brain with similar deadlines, but I think I'm close to the end of a first draft there and will be able to give this more attention soon. The last couple weeks I was home and able to pick up the canons (two of them) that I've now narrowed down that I want to write for, so I could canon review and get plot ideas. So there may be advertising posts coming soon...or I'll just work on the fic. Maybe! :P

At this point is going, I been slow in writing for it. What I thought it was going to be a piece of cake has become a headache. *sigh*
