Hi, and welcome to the tenth round of Be The First!

This is a low-pressure challenge to write a fic, of any length, for a fandom that previously had none. That's it! If you want to take part, just reply to this post :)

Quick rundown: You have two months to write. The deadline is at 23.59 GMT on the 20th of April, and the archive will go live at 00.01 GMT on the 22nd of April. You can submit up to four stories, as long as they are for different fandoms.

If you'd like more information beyond those basic points, then you can find the FAQ right here. The AO3 collection for this year is here, and I'll be putting up a fandom promo post in roughly a week.

To clarify, the three sentences for Three Sentence Ficathon that I wrote for this fandom counts as having a presence on Ao3, doesn't it? I'll just go cry in my beer.

Alas, it does. I can only imagine how frustrating that is, sorry! (And BTW, I just want to quickly mention that fics posted anywhere count; this isn't specifically about whether the fandom is on AO3 or not.)

I'm never short of ideas for canons no one has even heard of. :D

I do have a curious question - there's a fandom, an M. R. James story in fact, which shows up under Books & Literature on AO3 as having 2 stories. When you click on it, it shows you only one result, which is a Stargate Atlantis story. I can only assume it borrows elements from the story. Surely that doesn't count as there being fandom content for it? No character or setting from it shows up anywhere.

Yup, correct, that definitely doesn't count. So you're all good! (As for the mysterious work which doesn't show up, I can only guess that it might be in an unrevealed collection or something like that.)

Sadly when I signed up last year, the fandom I had in mind did turn out to have a work associated with it when I checked AO3's uncategorized fandoms :(

But I think I've done my due diligence this time, so I'll try again this year :)

Found out about this too late for the last round, so I'm excited about getting to do it now! I have story ideas for two fandoms that qualify, so maybe I'll get ambitious and write them both :-)

Ooh, I was just thinking about this--I'm always very excited when Be the First rolls around! I'm planning to write for the Kamogawa Food Detectives book series.

I haven’t been able to find anything in Guy Gavriel Kay’s The Last Light of the Sun, Catherine Fisher’s Corbenic, or Sue Harrison’s Ivory Carver trilogy. Now only to choose which to write for…

I haven't had an idea of a fandom to write for this in a couple of rounds, but this time I do! I'm going to write for Just Like Home by Sarah Gailey.

I was just happily surprised to find out Night of Love with You only has one story and it's in Chinese! \o/ Worth checking even when you're sure there'll be more!

The fandom I wrote for Be The First last year has five works now, which is super delightful! ♥♥ So I'm going to try again this year with another manga by the same author.

Hmmmmm. I have my eye on one specific canon that might qualify but I'm not sure how much time I'll have (since I'd need canon review at least a bit). I also need to research whether anyone wrote something yet (probably not, book fandom).

This sounds fantastic! I think I'm going to write a fic for the album Rick by Ricky Montgomery! Either that or for Unknown Phantom, another song by Ricky Montgomery!
