Hi there, and welcome to the second round of Be The First! Nothing has changed since last time; this is still a low-pressure challenge to write a fic, of any length, for a fandom that previously had none. That's it! If you want to take part, just reply to this post :)

The FAQ is right here, and I'd be happy to answer any additional questions you might have. The AO3 collection for this year can be found here, and I'll be putting up a fandom promo post in roughly a week (to give you some time to decide what to write for).

Quick rundown: You have two months to write. The deadline is at 23.59 GMT on the 20th of April, and the archive will go live at at 00.01 GMT on the 22nd of April. You can submit up to two stories, as long as they are for different fandoms.

Last year we managed to write twenty-one fics, and my goal this year is to beat that. Let's go for it, guys! :Db

Last year I wrote first fics for two fandoms (one of which I got a Yuletide treat for, and for which I got two fics for Chocolate Box! so there's a mini-fandom now). Not sure if I will manage a second this year, but one of my Yuletide requests is a fandom of 1 (me) with absolutely no fics yet, so I'm challenging myself to try to figure out how to write something for the amazing YA fantasy series Worldweavers written by Alma Alexander.

Ack, I just discovered there *were* two fics for it on ff.n - hidden in the Misc. Books category. I had forgotten to search there until today. :/ So does that mean my fic does not count?

Aaahhh, I'm so sorry for the delay in responding! For some unknown reason the email notification of this comment ended up in my spam folder, where I didn't see it until just now. Sorry, sorry!

And bummer, that's really bad luck! Technically, yes, it would mean the fandom isn't eligible for this challenge. If it was buried in some random Tumblr post somewhere that'd be one thing, but fanfiction.net is one of the big two that I even specifically mention in the FAQ, so... But at the same time this was an honest mistake, plus you've already written your story and everything. Nn, how about this? If you have another fandom you could write for, then you can replace the existing fic. If not, let's just let it slide this once. I hope that's an okay solution for you :)

Well, I took it out anyway. It doesn't seem fair to me to leave it - I should've checked properly (just because I'd half-forgotten how ff.n works after years on AO3 isn't a good excuse). Alas! No longer the first in the collection - it was kinda fun. But I'll think. Nothing's coming to mind right now, but if a fandom does I'll write something for it.

Think I did! The Changes (TV) is an obscure 70s children's TV show that's a bit apocalyptic (based on The Changes trilogy by Peter Dickinson). Couldn't find anything on either AO3 or ff.n and I doubt there's anything anywhere else either!

Drabble posted but it'll need editing, which I can provide later. :)
