Hi there, and welcome to the second round of Be The First! Nothing has changed since last time; this is still a low-pressure challenge to write a fic, of any length, for a fandom that previously had none. That's it! If you want to take part, just reply to this post :)

The FAQ is right here, and I'd be happy to answer any additional questions you might have. The AO3 collection for this year can be found here, and I'll be putting up a fandom promo post in roughly a week (to give you some time to decide what to write for).

Quick rundown: You have two months to write. The deadline is at 23.59 GMT on the 20th of April, and the archive will go live at at 00.01 GMT on the 22nd of April. You can submit up to two stories, as long as they are for different fandoms.

Last year we managed to write twenty-one fics, and my goal this year is to beat that. Let's go for it, guys! :Db

I'm very excited about this! I had fun last year and plan to write for another obscure J-drama, Hagetaka: Road to Rebirth. (It has three fics on A03, but they're in Chinese, so according to the FAQ I'm good to go.)

I said I'd sign up if there still wasn't fic for this by the time signups opened, and surprisingly, there still isn't! So here goes: signing up to write fic for the Charlotte Holmes series by Brittany Cavallaro (A Study in Charlotte, The Last of August).

There's some stuff that comes up if you search "Charlotte Holmes," but I checked through everything I found on AO3, ff.net, and Wattpad and verified that none of it's for the Charlotte Holmes book series. It's all genderbends and OC daughters for BBC Sherlock, plus some stuff in other languages.

Looking forward to taking part. :)

Last year I wrote first fics for two fandoms (one of which I got a Yuletide treat for, and for which I got two fics for Chocolate Box! so there's a mini-fandom now). Not sure if I will manage a second this year, but one of my Yuletide requests is a fandom of 1 (me) with absolutely no fics yet, so I'm challenging myself to try to figure out how to write something for the amazing YA fantasy series Worldweavers written by Alma Alexander.

Hi there! You don't have to say which fandom(s) you're thinking about writing for -- I think a lot of people haven't even decided yet, which is totally cool. But if you have made up your mind, it could be a good way to kinda advertise, y'know? Obviously these are all super-tiny fandoms, but by mentioning it you might attract the attention of someone else who's into it! And, on a purely selfish level, I Iove hearing what everyone's planning on writing, so I'm always happy when people say :) But it's definitely not a must, so no worries.

I'm going to give this a try! I'll be writing Danny Dunn (thanks for answering my question on whether that qualified, BTW) and if I have time to spare when I finish that, I might come back and sign up for a second fandom because I have a few in mind.

Ooh, it's been a long time since I read them, but I loved the Danny Dunn series as a kid! I still remember that my favorite book was Danny Dunn on a Desert Island, which I see is available on Kindle, along with other books in the series, so I'll probably go buy some of them. Thanks for reminding me of a childhood favorite, and I look forward to seeing what you come up with!
